One of the most valuable skills that you can have to be successful in business is good time management. If you’re not managing your time well, then it will take you longer to complete important tasks. Poor time management could potentially hinder you from achieving your goals, and also missing out on the success that you truly desire.

The fact remains that we all have twenty-four hours in one day to do what we have to do in life. But there a minority of people that seem to get a lot more completed and achieve success at a much greater level. What is their secret? It’s about how effectively they manage their time.

Here are some tips that will help you to manage your time more effectively.

  1. Set Yourself Some Definite Goals

If you do not set yourself any goals, then you will have nothing to focus on or to aim for. Goal setting will give you direction, and will identify key actions that are needed to get your business off the ground or what is required to take it to the next level.

  1. Stop Your Bad Habits

One of the biggest killers of our time are our bad habits. They are often non-productive, and are preventing us from doing the things that matter the most. Whether it’s surfing on social media, watching TV, or playing video games, these daily bad habits eat away at the little spare time that we have. Good tips to help you to break your bad habits are setting yourself limits on your smartphone for how long you are looking at social media sites each day. You can also set yourself timers to limit yourself on the amount of time you are spending doing other non-productive activities, like watching TV or doing online shopping.

  1. Follow the 80/20 rule.

The 80/20 Rule is a great time management system that is also known as the Pareto Principle. This rule states that 80 percent of your results come from 20 percent of your efforts. The same rule also applies to business, 80 percent of your sales come from 20 percent of the customer base. The key is to identify what is the 20 percent of the most productive tasks that you need to focus on so that achieve 80 percent of your results?  You can do this by tracking and analysing the tasks that you do on a weekly basis, to identify whether they are giving you the best results.

  1. Make to-do lists

Before bed or first thing in the morning make yourself a do do-list. Analyse your goals to see what tasks you can do that will move you closer towards achieving success. This will ensure that you’re effectively structuring your day, and maximising the use of your time. Breaking down your objectives into bite-sized daily actions will make it much easier for them to be achieved, whilst at the same time moving you closer towards your bigger long-term goals.

  1. Record Your Activities For Seven Days

Spend seven days analysing how you are currently using your time. You can do this by recording your activities in a journal or on your smartphone. Divide your day up in 30-minute blocks, noting how time has been spent. At the end of the seven days, add up the total time spend on each activity. You can then calculate the figures as percentages, and display as a graph or a pie chart.

  1. Take Regular Breaks When Working

It is highly recommended that you take regular breaks while you are working. One study suggests that you should work for fifty-two minutes and then take a break for seventeen. You might not have the luxury to do that, but you should still take frequent breaks throughout the day. When you are working for yourself, your enthusiasm and motivation to be successful will encourage you to work as hard as possible which in all sense and purposes is a good thing. The problem is that without taking regular breaks, you are more susceptible to make mistakes, and will be working less efficiently due to mental fatigue.

  1. Get a mentor

Finding a mentor is vital to help you to develop and grow as an online entrepreneur. A good mentor will ensure that you are on the right path, and that you are prioritising your tasks that will make you more efficient.   1. Declutter and Organize Your Work Space

Recent studies have claimed that cluttered environments can make us lose focus. When we lose our focus, we are losing precious time. We can avoid this by decluttering and organising our workspace. We can do this in small stages, for example, a drawer one day, and a shelf on another day. Over time, you will notice that not only do you feel more focused to work in your environment but that it is also much easier and quicker to find things because you have removed all unnecessary items.

  1. Adopt New Habits into Your Life

We have all heard of the saying “We Are Creatures Of Habit”. As online entrepreneurs, we need to do two things that will help us to manage our time more effectively.

  1. Stop Our Non-Productive Habits
  2. Adopt New Productive Habits

We need to start adopting habits that will make is more productive. For example, daily planning and reading to gain knowledge in your chosen specialist field. It may be difficult at the start but after a few weeks, you will soon be reaping the benefits of your newly incorporated habits.

  1. Meditate And Exercise Every Morning

It has been proven that meditation can help to improve your memory, concentration, and focus. At the start of each morning, find yourself a nice quiet place where you and close your eyes, take some deep breaths, and focus on your inner self. You can start meditating for five minutes a day and build your way up to twenty minutes each day over time. There are also many benefits in taking regular exercise. A good workout at the start of your day will make you feel more energised throughout the day and will also help improve the quality of your sleep.


Time is one of the most precious commodities that we all process and in our ever-demanding lives, and it often feels like there are just not enough hours in the day. But with self-discipline, and by making a few changes to our regular daily routine, we can make more use with the limited time that we have. this will ensure that we are much more productive, and can become the elite minority that achieves success.
